ABOUt FishNewportRI

FishNewportRI is a private Newport RI fishing charter built on three generations of captains and a lifetime spent on the Atlantic.

Our background was shaped offshore chasing bluefin tuna, reading weather windows, and learning the discipline serious fishing demands. Today that experience guides every trip we run, from technical striped bass fishing along Newport’s rocky shoreline to offshore bluefin tuna charters when conditions allow.

We do not simply run fishing trips. We prepare for them.

From working productive structure inside Narragansett Bay to running offshore when tuna move through Rhode Island waters, every charter is planned around real conditions and tailored to the anglers on board.

Fish Newport RI Captains

Both captains are fully USCG Masters licensed and insured, holding safety and professionalism to the same standard as performance on every Newport RI fishing charter.

Captain Jay is a third generation charter captain raised in the fishing business. His grandfather, Captain Murray, fished for swordfish and giant bluefin tuna from Point Judith during the 1950s and became the second Rhode Island fisherman to land a giant bluefin tuna on rod and reel. His father later founded Laura-Jay Charters on Cape Cod, one of New England’s long running charter operations. Growing up on those boats, Jay developed the offshore mindset that now shapes every fishing charter he runs.

Captain Taylor grew up on Aquidneck Island and is known locally for technical striped bass fishing along the rocky Newport shoreline. Often called “Top Water Taylor,” he specializes in sight casting and topwater fishing for striped bass. His patience and local knowledge help create productive trips for experienced anglers while also making Newport fishing charters welcoming for families and first time fishermen.
